The start of a mentorship is in the process. Last week, I was able to conduct my first mentor interview with Mr. Brickey, who works in the cyber security sector at MasterCard. I learned a lot about what he does and his life as a whole, with my interview being a little more than 3 hours long! I was also able to find 2 more people to interview, which I am doing this week, which will conclude the required amount of interviews needed for the process. Last week, I was also able to learn about a man that works for Pepsico in the cyber security sector, in which he is the man who finds the attacks and sends them out to the people who fix it. One cool thing that he had told me was that lets say an attack on the company is not to severe and is not needed to be fixed right at that moment, they are able to contain it in a secure location, and let that bug/worm roam around in a server disclosed from the rest of the company. He was also telling me about how there is a convention every year in Las Vegas where Cyber Security professionals go to and discuss trends and a bunch of different aspects, and during that time, that is when hackers actually target companies the most. Since all of the high paid professionals are away from the company, which is quite funny and predictable.
