Last week, while we had two research assessments due, I was able to annotate and write essays over two companies that had recently gotten hacked by ransomware. The first one is Kia motors and the second one is colonial pipeline. Going over the article in regards to the Kia motors hack, it was interesting to see the way that the hackers were able to hack the cars remote start stop, the ability to unlock and lock the cars, as well as the heating systems. For the hackers to be able to hack the cars main frame systems and shut down such large components are crazy, With colonial pipeline, this was something that has been touched on in almost every single article in regards to ransomware since it was so impactful since the hackers were able to shut down all of the pipes and not allow people to get fuel. Which was crazy about this hack was that the way the company was hacked was through a persons separate log in on a different website, since they used the same email and password on a previous website that was hacked, the hacker was able to hack their computer that was in use for their company.
